    Drew Hare ran for 166 yards and passed for 44 yards to lead Northern Illinois to a 28-17 win over Eastern Michigan on Saturday. Northern Illinois (6-2, 3-1 Mid-American Conference) held a 14-10 advantage at the half. Reginald Bell, Jr., who finished with 257 total yards, scored from the 4 to give EMU (2-6, 1-3) a 17-14 lead at the start of the final quarter.

    Drew Hare finished 365 yards of total offense, 185 passing and 180 rushing, and three touchdowns to lead Northern Illinois to a 51-41 win over Miami (Ohio) on Saturday. Overall, the two teams combined for 1172 yards and 56 first downs.

    Thomas Rawls carried the load for the second straight game, scoring a pair of first-quarter touchdowns to spark Central Michigan to a 34-17 win at Northern Illinois Saturday. Drew Hare tossed the first of his two touchdown passes to Juwan Brescacin a minute and a half into the game to give the Huskies a 7-0 lead, but Rawls capped a 10-play, 86-yard drive by punching in from the 5 to even the score on the Chippewas’ first possession.

    Northern Illinois ran its home win streak to 28 games while picking up its 24th straight Mid-American Conference win, stopping winless Kent State, 17-14, Saturday night. The Huskies (4-1, 1-0) needed a late defensive stand to preserve the win.

    Korliss Marshall returned the opening kickoff 97 yards for a touchdown, and Brandon Allen accounted for three touchdowns as Arkansas won its third straight game with a 52-14 victory over Northern Illinois on Saturday night. The win for the Razorbacks (3-1) snapped a 17-game road winning streak for the Huskies, whose last road loss came at Central Michigan in 2011.

Northern Illinois’ road winning streak includes three wins over Big 10 Conference teams, including a 23-15 win over Northwestern two weeks ago.

  • NIU slips past Northwestern in 23-15 win Sep 6, 2014 6:54 PM
    Drew Hare passed for two touchdowns and ran for another to lead Northern Illinois to a 23-15 win over in-state rival Northwestern on Saturday. He got help from Da’Ron Brown, who hauled in the two TD passes and finished with six receptions for 128 yards. Hare, who didn’t play until the second half, completed six of 10 passes for 109 yards and had 11 rushes for 31 yards. Hare was the third quarterback to play for the Huskies.

    Mid-American Conference Commissioner Jon Steinbrecher says the league’s new 13-year media rights agreement with ESPN provides long-term stability to the conference at uncertain time for college athletics. The MAC and ESPN officially announced the new deal, which runs through the 2026-27 season, on Tuesday. The contract reworks the final three years of the current eight-year deal that MAC has with the network, and adds 10 years.
