Serve City Volleyball hosting high school club tryouts Oct. 22, 30

Serve City Volleyball is hosting girls club tryouts for its high school teams in the Wheaton, West Dundee/Elgin and Des Plaines areas. Serve City's first tryout is Sunday, October 22 at its Wheaton, West Dundee and Des Plaines practice locations. Makeup tryouts will then take place on October 30 and November 2 in Wheaton. Tryouts in Des Plaines will run from 9 to 11 a.m. on October 22 at Oakton Community College in Des Plaines. Serve City is offering 13-and-under, 14-and-under and 16-and-under teams at Oakton.
Freedom Golf Association's Honor Wounded Vets 5K Run/Walk rescheduled for Oct. 29

As many know, the Freedom Golf Association's "Honor Wounded Vets 5K Run/Walk," originally scheduled for Oct. 15 had to be postponed due to flooding on the McDonald's Oak Brook Corporate Campus in Oak Brook. The event has been rescheduled for Sunday, Oct. 29.

The Illinois Association of Park Districts (IAPD) honored the Naperville Park District for excellence in its community arts programs at IAPD's annual awards gala in Wheeling on Friday, October 13. Winning second place in the competition for the Helen Doria Arts in the Park Award, the Naperville Park District arts programming was recognized for its long-term commitment to providing affordable, accessible high-quality arts programs and public art for the community through partnerships with area artists, businesses and organizations.
