  • Former “Jersey Boy” travels from “Broadway to Obscurity” this Valentine’s Day at ECC Jan 23, 2015 7:07 PM
    The Elgin Community College Arts Center will travel “From Broadway to Obscurity” when former Broadway “Jersey Boy” Eric Gutman performs his hilarious and revealing musical confessional at 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 14. It tells the story of how Gutman, at the peak of his career playing several roles in the Tony and Grammy-winning smash hit “Jersey Boys” on Broadway, made the decision to return to his hometown of Detroit so that he could raise his two young daughters closer to his family.

     
  • Journalist Bill Kurtis presents “Death by Food” at ECC Jan 23, 2015 6:07 PM
    Award-winning investigative journalist Bill Kurtis will give a presentation at Elgin Community College on Monday, March 16 about the effects of the American diet. His presentation, “Death by Food: How the American Diet is Killing You," will analyze the reasons the American diet is so high in fat, sugar and salts, the connection between processed foods and rising health problems, and offer a means of optimal nutrition as a solution to the nutrient-depleted foods found on the tables of American consumers.

    The Albright Theatre Company in Batavia presents Agatha Christie’s “The Mousetrap.” It is a murder mystery that focuses on a group of strangers who have been stranded at the Monkswell Manor during a snowstorm. The Manor also holds something else — a suspect to the recent murder of a woman in London. In true Christie fashion, “The Mousetrap” will keep you guessing who the killer is until the very end.

They provide a positive, structured, educational baseball experience, rich with sportsmanship and healthy recreational competition for approximately 2,200 boys and girls, age 5 to 17, during two seasons per year (spring/summer and fall). The league has no residency requirements so players are welcome regardless of where you live.
