Prairie Crossing Charter School seventh-graders returned home early from a spring camping trip to a Wisconsin state park after finding a woman's body at the bottom of a 100-foot overlook. Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources officials are investigating the 56-year-old woman's death that occurred Thursday at Devil's Lake State Park near Baraboo.

Dakota Lyons, a second-grade student from Butterfield School in Libertyville wrote about her teacher, Erin Koehlhoeffer, and Joi Freeman a seventh-grader at Woodland Middle School in Gurnee, won for her essay about Matthew Lakemacher.

Fired principal sues Prairie Crossing Charter School Mar 20, 2012 12:00 AM
Former Prairie Crossing Charter School principal Brian Greene has filed a lawsuit contending his firing in December was based on false claims against him by Director Nigel Whittington and two others. Greenes attorney, Anthony Esposito of Libertyville, filed the suit Tuesday in Lake County circuit court.
