    Pat Cannone’s breakaway goal with 29 seconds left in overtime sparked the Chicago Wolves to a 3-2 victory over the San Antonio Rampage on Saturday night before 11,570 at Allstate Arena in Rosemont. Forwards Jeremy Welsh and Shane Harper scored in regulation for the Wolves (27-19-5-1). Jordan Binnington, who set a franchise record by starting in goal for the 14th consecutive regular-season game, stopped 31 shots to earn the win. “I wasn’t sure whether I should put (Cannone) out there because he was hurting a little bit,” said Wolves coach John Anderson with a smile. “I guess I’m a genius. The crowd saw a great game that could have gone either way. They had a breakaway right at the end and ‘Binny’ came up big and we scored the goal.”

    Rosemont’s village board Wednesday adopted a policy enabling Mayor Brad Stephens to extend lease agreements of village properties for up to five years without trustees’ oversight. The ordinance could allow him to sign off on deals with tenants such as DePaul University’s basketball team or the Chicago Wolves.

Forwards Terry Broadhurst and Jeremy Welsh scored in regulation for the Wolves (25-18-5-3) before Cannone rifled a wrister past Milwaukee goaltender Marek Mazanec’s glove during 3-on-3 play in overtime.

The actor was in full goalie gear training in the Triphahn Center Ice Arena in Hoffman Estates. “The Wolves are prominent in the film; it’s specific to our organization, so it’s good for hockey and good for Chicago,” the Wolves assistant GM said.

    Right wing Shane Harper scored a pair of power-play goals as the Chicago Wolves earned a 4-1 victory Saturday over Charlotte — their second win in as many nights at Time Warner Cable Arena. Harper’s first multi-goal game of the season gave him 21 for the year, which ranks third in the American Hockey League. Defenseman Joel Edmundson and forward Nathan Longpre also scored for the Wolves (24-18-5-1) while goaltender Jordan Binnington (15-9-3) posted 20 saves in the win.

Binnington, who made his ninth consecutive start, boosted his record to 14-9-3.

Right wing Shane Harper added his team-high 18th goal and Pat Cannone notched an empty-net score for the Wolves (22-17-5-1), who cut Rockford’s lead in the 12-game Illinois Lottery Cup season series to 5-4. Wolves goalie Jordan Binnington (13-8-3) posted 32 saves. “We had some really nice goals,” said Wolves coach John Anderson. “Paajarvi’s goals and Harper’s goal — those were rockets. (Rockford goalie Scott) Darling didn’t stand a chance on any of those.”

Forwards Philip McRae, Pat Cannone and Colin Fraser also scored for the Wolves (20-15-4-1). Goaltender Jordan Binnington (11-6-3), who earned his first win since Dec. 26, stopped 29 shots.

IceHogs defenseman T.J. Brennan recorded the only goal in the shootout. Forward Magnus Paajarvi also scored for the Wolves (19-15-4-1), who outshot the IceHogs 44-21 during regulation and seven minutes of overtime.

Right wing Shane Harper scored his career-high 14th goal for the Wolves (19-15-4-0), who will try to bounce back tonight when they host Midwest Division-leading Rockford. “They took the play to us,” said Wolves coach John Anderson. “We gave them life early and the game was pretty much over after that. We’ve got to get more in synch. The mistakes we made in our own zone ... it’s halfway through the year. We should not be making them.”

Right wing Shane Harper, center Philip McRae, and left wing John McCarthy tallied for the Wolves (19-14-4-0), who snapped a two-game losing streak. Climie made 20 saves to earn his second — and the Wolves’ third — shutout of the season. Climie (9-8-3) has 9 shutouts since joining the Wolves.
