Some popular favorites and fun newcomers are heading to the Randall Road corridor as part of the 11th annual summer concert series at Geneva Commons. The free series is set to begin at the outdoor mall on Wednesday, June 5, and continue throughout the month of June.

Half Price Books now open for business in Algonquin May 6, 2013 12:00 AM
A new bookstore now is open in the former Borders Books location along the Randall Road corridor in the Algonquin Commons Shopping Center. Half Price Books opened last month inside half of the vacant Borders Books location, the first store of its kind in the Fox Valley area.

Cycling Republic opens in Algonquin Apr 22, 2013 12:00 AM
Just in time for biking weather, a new cycling store has opened on Randall Road. Cycling Republic opened March 9 at 2397 S. Randall, in Algonquin, near the intersection of Broadsmore and Randall Road. Cycling Republic carries bikes, as well as anything you might need for biking, such as clothes and accessories.

Jersey Mike’s opens in South Elgin Apr 8, 2013 12:00 AM
A friendly rivalry between St. Charles North and South Elgin High Schools helped welcome a new Jersey Mike's sandwich shop to South Elgin this month. Jersey Mike's employees handed out 8,000 coupons throughout the area for a free sub with a $1 donation. When customers brought the coupon to the counter, they could decide whether the $1 donation would go to the boosters club of either school.

A new shoe store has joined the Randall Road corridor. Shoe Carnival now is open in South Elgin at 354 Randall Road in South Elgin. The store opened earlier this month in the Shops at South Elgin, next to TJ Maxx.

Bar Louie to open Sunday in Geneva Mar 4, 2013 12:00 AM
It might be part of a chain, but when Bar Louie opens in Geneva this weekend, patrons may feel like they’ve stepped into their own local bar and restaurant. General manager Josh Dry says people who’ve never visited a Bar Louie before will be met with welcoming employees, a rustic interior and a warm atmosphere.

If you drive up and down the Randall Road corridor any time during tax season, you've probably seen Tim Kelly or one of his co-workers waving at you from the side of the road. Kelly is one of a handful of part-time employees at Liberty Tax Service centers in the area who don the flowing gown and foam crown each winter, posing as the Statue of Liberty in hopes of drawing customers into the tax preparation business.

Elgin car wash reopens with new owners, featuresDec 18, 2012 12:00 AM
Brian and Donna Harrington had been going to their local car wash along Randall Road in Elgin for five years as customers. They enjoyed it so much, that when they found out it was for sale, they negotiated a deal to buy it. The couple kept the staff, purchased new equipment and expanded the business to make the experience even better for their customers.

The new Golden Corral along Randall Road in Batavia was on hold for so long, many people still don't even realize it's open. The buffet restaurant at 2030 Main St. opened on Nov. 17.

You'll find more than clothes, jewelry and household items at Geneva Commons later this month. The folks from Anderson Animal Shelter in South Elgin will be at the Randall Road outdoor mall on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 22 and 23, collecting donations to help them care for the rescues they house.
