The conditions were favorable for some serious hitting, and the White Sox exploited the wind with 5 home runs in an 11-8 win over Minnesota.“Offensively, guys were swinging it tonight,” manager Robin Ventura said after the Sox (23-22) won for the sixth time in seven games and moved over the .500 mark for the first time since May 1. “Even for (the Twins), they had some runs, too. Offensively, it was a nice night for everybody.”

Paul Konerko was 1-for-4 in Friday night's 9-3 win over the Indians at U.S. Cellular Field, and the White Sox' veteran first baseman still leads the American League with a .381 batting average. But Konerko does not like talking about individual accomplishments, and winning a batting title is not on his to-do list. Rather, Konerko aims to compete during each and every trip to the plate.

White Sox starter John Danks is headed to the 15-day disabled list because of soreness in his left shoulder. Manager Robin Ventura says Jose Quintana will be called up from the minors and start Friday in his place against AL Central leader Cleveland. Neither Ventura nor Danks believes the injury is serious, and Danks thinks he'll be ready to rejoin the rotation after June 4.

Just when it looked like John Danks was finally rounding into form, the White Sox' left-handed starting pitcher landed on the 15-day disabled list Thursday. Danks has been bothered by soreness in the back of his throwing shoulder. Danks is expected to miss two starts and he's hoping to return on June 5 to face the Blue Jays. "It's nothing serious," manager Robin Ventura said. "We're just getting out in front of it and making sure we take care of him."

Chris Sale pitched seven sharp innings and Paul Konerko and Alex Rios backed him with home runs, leading the White Sox to a 6-0 win over the Minnesota Twins on Wednesday night. Sale (5-2) held the Twins to two hits and two walks, striking out six. He has allowed three runs or less in all eight of his starts in his first year as a member of the Chicago rotation.

The White Sox said so long to pregame instructor and former relief pitcher Kevin Hickey on Tuesday during a funeral Mass at Old St. Pat's Church. Hickey died last Wednesday at the age of 56. "It's not fun," Paul Konerko said. "Those things are never fun. You know, sometimes life gets in the way of baseball and you see what's really important."

P.J. Walters tossed his first career complete game and Justin Morneau hit a three-run homer as the Minnesota Twins routed the Chicago White Sox 9-2 on Tuesday night. Walters cruised in his third start of the season to snap Chicago's four-game winning streak. He gave up a solo homer to Gordon Beckham with one out in the first inning, but allowed little else.

Hudson eager to help White Sox wherever needed May 22, 2012 12:00 AM
Orlando Hudson officially joined the White Sox Tuesday, less than a week after being waived by the San Diego Padres. Hudson didn't start against the Twins, but he took groundballs at third base in preparation for a shift from second base. Also Tuesday, the Sox placed third baseman Brent Morel on the disabled list with a lumbar back strain.
