    The Northwest suburbs has lost a pioneer with the death this month of Ethel Kolerus. She was the first woman to be township supervisor in Cook County, and her leadershp of the Alexian Brothers Medical Center came during a time of great growth. “Ethel wanted this building to be one-stop-shop for residents in need,” says Jo Stellato, Wheeling Township’s director of finance and administration.

    Wheeling has declared a surplus in its South Milwaukee Tax Increment Financing district, which means one-time payments totaling $2.5 million will go to local governments. Wheeling Township Elementary District 21 will receive $1.1 million; Northwest Suburban High School District 214 will get $562,369; and the village of Wheeling will get $275,375.

  • Former Wheeling Township clerk Ulreich remembered for service, spirit Feb 5, 2014 7:15 PM
    Friends are remembering Paula Ulreich, the longtime former Wheeling Township Clerk and a dedicated volunteer in Arlington Heights, as a fun-loving and brave woman who gave much to many causes across the community. Ulreich, 69, died Wednesday morning after a battle with cancer. Her death comes just three days before she was to receive the Pam Stocking Heart of Gold award in Arlington Heights on Saturday.
