    The members of the 2011-2012 DuPage County Academic Team are an impressive bunch with a long list of accolades to their credit. But these teenagers care about more than their resumes. They plan to make a difference.     Jasper Lown is a 16-year-old filmmaking prodigy from Wheaton -- writing, producing and starring in about 40 videos on topics ranging from Super Bowl beer ads to making mini-lemon cakes. "I enjoy the fact that it's an uncommon medium for someone my age to be so wrapped up in," he says. "It's one component of my personality that makes me unique."

In Class 3A Glenbard South is trying to turn a strong end to the regular season into a sectional title at home.

    After suffering just a touch of Senior Night-itis the Wheaton Warrenville South volleyball team made things right quickly and maintained its undefeated record against visiting DuPage Valley Conference rival Glenbard East.

    Doubles key in Naperville Central’s DVC triumph May 14, 2012 12:00 AM
    Naperville Central senior first doubles player Matt Mason welcomed the pressure that was on him and his partner Wesley Lo in Mondays final round of the DuPage Valley Conference championship tournament. The makeshift doubles team which had only played together once before this season responded to the situation with a clutch 6-0, 6-0 win in the final to lead the Redhawks to their third straight DVC tennis title, and once again it was rival Naperville North in second just 1 point back.

    The Wheaton United girls lacrosse team made a little history recently.Wheaton went 5-0 in DuPage-Upstate Eight Conference play to win the programs first league title in its seven-year existence. Wheaton scored a 10-9 conference win in overtime against St. Charles and edged Neuqua Valley (10-8) in another league tilt. Those were big victories for us, said Wheaton United coach Charles Solomon. There have always been tough teams in our conference and to be able to beat Neuqua, which is always a very solid team, for the first time in our programs history was a huge step for United lacrosse.

    The Wheaton North baseball team had to work overtime Monday afternoon. But the Falcons didnt mind the reward was well worth it. Ryan Jordan, with a full count, smashed a double to the right field corner that scored John Peltz in the top of the eighth inning. Starting pitcher Justin Harrington held off the Tigers in the bottom of the frame to secure a 3-2 win for the Falcons. Wheaton North (22-10, 15-4 DuPage Valley Conference) remains in first place with a 1-game lead over Naperville Central and a 2-game lead over Naperville North with both of those teams also winning Monday.
