The 2017 NAMI 5K will take place Saturday, Oct. 7, at the Peg Bond Center in downtown Batavia. It is a benefit for NAMI Kane-South, DeKalb and Kendall Counties, a nonprofit, grass-roots, self-help, support and advocacy organization of consumers, families and friends of people with severe mental illnesses.

New Hideaway Restaurant would have plenty of competition

For the longest time, I found myself rooting for the Casiello family to bring the Hideaway Restaurant back to life along the Fox River in the area once known as Valley View. But now the "reality" voice in my head says that reviving the Hideaway may not resonate the way the original place did years ago.
