  • Mundelein District 75 teachers authorize strike after contract talks stall Sep 26, 2014 10:26 AM
    A second case of labor uncertainty has hit Lake County as teachers in Mundelein Elementary District 75 this week voted 122 to 13 to authorize a strike.The contract with the district and the Mundelein Elementary Education Association ended June 30, and a Sept. 19 mediation session was not fruitful. Teachers in Waukegan Unit District 60 have notified that district of their intent to strike Oct. 2.

  • Fourth person involved in Waukegan torture, murder gets 40 years Sep 24, 2014 10:45 PM
    A Waukegan woman who pleaded guilty to assisting in the torture and murder of someone she thought sexually assaulted her was sentenced to 40 years in prison Wednesday. Nadia Palacios, 24, used a blow torch on David Campbell before accomplices hit him in the head with a hammer,and suffocated him using plastic bags.
