Stevenson fires at will, rolls past Waukegan Mar 1, 2013 12:00 AM
How do you defend against a team with as many weapons as Stevenson? Waukegan found out the hard way in Friday’s 4A regional championship game at Prospect that points can come from anyone in Stevenson’s lineup. The top-seeded Patriots (25-4) kept their winning streak (15 games) and season alive with a 76-49 victory over No. 8 Waukegan. By having four players score in double figures, they advance to face No. 5 seed Mundelein on Tuesday in the Waukegan sectional.

Waukegan finds winning pace at Prospect Feb 28, 2013 12:00 AM
For three quarters, Prospect and Waukegan played at a breakneck pace. The Knights were certainly in their comfort zone on their home floor, shooting over 50 percent up to that point. And the Bulldogs got their share of run-outs that led to several thunderous dunks. Inbounding the ball up 3 points to start the fourth, Waukegan switched things up by going to a spread offense and essentially running a delay game. The change threw off No. 9 Prospect, and Jordan Johnson and No. 8 Waukegan dissected the Knights’ half-court defense in the final quarter to earn a 67-60 victory in the Class 4A Prospect regional semifinal.

No slowing Stevenson as Pats win 8th straight Feb 5, 2013 12:00 AM
Visiting Waukegan was missing its starting point guard, Jordan Johnson, who was on crutches at game time in Lincolnshire. But would it really have mattered that much? Clearly Johnson would have trouble covering the likes of the likes of Connor Cashaw, Jalen Brunson, Andy Stempel and Matt Morrissey. All four of those Patriots players scored in double figures on Tuesday night. Stevenson (18-4) made it eight wins in a row with an impressive 66-49 win over an athletic bunch from Waukegan.

It is co-sponsored by the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History, HISTORY, and Preserve America.

Eventually, Waukegan takes it to Grayslake Central Dec 22, 2012 12:00 AM
Grayslake Central's boys basketball team was in its comfort zone for awhile Saturday night. The Rams were on cruise control into the second quarter — but then host Waukegan changed things up in a hurry. And just like that, the Bulldogs rolled past Grayslake Central 78-57 in a nonconference game. "For 12 minutes we played some great basketball," Grayslake Central coach Brian Moe said. "After that, we had a group of kids that haven't played varsity basketball and forgot how to play varsity basketball in a hurry. "(Waukegan's) speed and quickness wore us out quickly, got us out of our comfort zone. Then they got a lead and built on it to the end."
