    Lake County Housing Authority board members have agreed to settle a federal lawsuit filed by a Warren Township woman who claimed she encountered discrimination on the job because she's white and of Polish descent. Housing authority officials voted 6-0 to settle the suit filed by Malgorzata Friedman in late April, roughly six months after U.S. District Judge Ronald Guzman dismissed portions of her complaint.

  • Warren Township standoff ends peacefully Jun 1, 2012 9:03 PM
    Police peacefully ended a standoff with a 28-year-old man who was threatening to kill himself and waving a bolt-action rifle outside of his Warren Township home Friday. The suspect, who was not identified by authorities, was taken into protective custody when he put down his weapon after about 40 minutes of negotiations. "Everyone was where they needed to be and they had a peaceful resolution, thank God," said Lake County Sheriff's spokeswoman Sgt. Karen Kates.
