    Miss Illinois Marisa Buchheit’s performance in Vernon Hills ended with “The Kiss”. Mitch Lewin spontaneously kissed Buchheit’s hand as she ended her program at Brookdale Plaza with the song “Il bacio” (“The kiss” in Italian). “She held her hand out while she was singing and I just kissed it,” said Lewin, a resident at the senior living home. “I think I got a lot of smiles from my friends after that.”

The open house will occur from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm and the car, truck, and motorcycle show will occur from 11:00 am - 4:00 pm. This event is free for community spectators. All show cars, trucks, motorcycles, and vehicle clubs are welcome. There will be a five dollar donation for each show vehicle. Event amenities will include food, vendors, a silent auction, live music, and five awards for the top vehicles and club. Donations will be accepted for canned dog food and treats made in the U.S.A., paper towels, blankets, collars, leashes, brushes, bowls, and toys at the event. All proceeds will benefit 501(c)3 charities Bombshell Bullies Pit Bull Rescue of Vernon Hills, Chicagoland Lab Rescue, Inc. of Oak Brook, and The Buddy Foundation of Arlington Heights.
