    After wowing the crowd with his rendition of Bill Wither’s “Ain’t No Sunshine” and wowing the judges with his musical evolution over the past several weeks, Dennis Caravello of Mount Prospect was named the winner of Suburban Chicago’s Got Talent for 2014. “This is just surreal,” said Caravello who started playing guitar at age 5 and dropped out of college a bit over a year ago to pursue music.

    The last round of online voting for Suburban Chicago’s Got Talent kicks off at midnight, giving the public one last chance to have their say in picking a Fan Favorite for the summer-long competition. You can watch performance videos of the top 10 SCGT finalists and vote online for your favorites by visiting dailyherald.com/entertainment/talent from midnight on Wednesday, Aug. 6, through 11:59 p.m. Friday, Aug. 8. The contestant with the most votes after three rounds of voting wins a Funjet Vacation for two.

That's because it's Ron Onesti, whose Onesti Entertainment Corporation runs the Arcada Theatre in St. Charles -- where the winner will ultimately perform. “To truly be an entertainer, you've really got to give from deep inside,” said Onesti, expressing what he's hoping to see in the contestants during this round of competition.

The Top 20 were drawn from nearly 100 contestants who auditioned last week at the Prairie Center for the Arts in Schaumburg, which is a co-sponsor of Suburban Chicago's Got Talent alongside the Daily Herald and the Arlington Heights Chamber of Commerce. The first public performance is set for Sunday, June 22, at the Prairie Center.
