    Through the support of Lake Zurich-based Smalley Steel Ring Company, the College of Lake County Foundation has established a new scholarship for CLC students in the Computerized Numerical Controls (CNC) and Mechatronics Technology programs. Applications for the scholarship will be accepted starting in February.

     
  • McHenry County honors heroes of Holiday Hills shootout Nov 18, 2014 6:57 PM
    It was a day of firsts for the McHenry County sheriff's office. The department awarded two purple hearts, an award of valor, and unit citations for the entire detective and patrol divisions. The awards honored the first responders and supporting officers who saved the day on Oct. 16 when a domestic dispute call in Holiday Hills turned into a shootout. “We have so much to be thankful for this season,” Sheriff Keith Nygren said.

    Lake County 4-H Teens lead the annual officer training on November 11. Thirty five youth participated in a Parliamentary Procedure Jeopardy game created by Avni Patel, learned the importance of being a President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer taught by Maddie Currie, Abby Daniels, Charlotte Roberts and parent volunteer Robbie Roberts.

     
  • Spring Grove woman dies after taking synthetic drug “SASS” Nov 12, 2014 10:56 AM
    Lake County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating the death of a 21-year-old Spring Grove woman pronounced dead about 24 hours after she ingested a synthetic drug known as “SASS." It is believed that false information provided by the people who drove the woman to the hospital hampered the initial investigation, according to the sheriff’s office.

    The College of Lake County has received a gold award for campus sustainability from the Illinois Sustainable Technology Center, a unit of the Prairie Research Institute at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, CLC Board Chairman Amanda Howland announced at the Oct. 28 Board of Trustees meeting on the Lakeshore Campus.

The song, written by Danielle Stratton, is about her struggle with chronic pain over the last four years.
