    Dillard easy winner in 24th Senate District Nov 6, 2012 12:00 AM
    Kirk Dillard, a 19-year Illinois Senate Republican, has retained his seat in the 24th District. With all precincts reporting, Dillard, of Hinsdale, defeated Democratic challenger A. Ghani of Oak Brook with 66 percent of the vote. Dillard said he was humbled to win such an overwhelming victory on a night where many Democrats did well.

    State Sen. Kirk Dillard says he's a known commodity and that familiarity helped him to an easy victory in Tuesday's Republican primary for the newly created 24th Senate District. The veteran Hinsdale legislator trounced challenger Chris Nybo of Elmhurst in both Cook County, where he took 75 percent of the vote, and DuPage County, where he took 61 percent.

The other says his challenger is a “climber” who keeps jumping from office to office — with little record to show for it along the way. On March 20, Republican voters who live within the redrawn 24th Senate District, which comprises parts of Elmhurst, Oak Brook, Lombard and Glen Ellyn, will decide which person they want to send back to Springfield.
