The complex issue of pension reform is a divisive topic for the two Republican candidates seeking the 23rd state Senate seat. State Sen. Carole Pankau says she would support the three-tiered plan proposed by House Republican Leader Tom Cross if it were brought for a vote as it is. But state Rep. Randy Ramey has some ideas of his own and plans to introduce two pension reform bills next week.

Republican candidates in the 23rd State Senate District have received campaign contributions from relatives, unions, horse racing organizations, even the political action committee of Associated Beer Distributors of Illinois. But so far, campaign records show Sen. Carole Pankau and Rep. Randy Ramey both have not received any funds from Senate Republican Leader Christine Radogno as they battle for a win in the March 20 primary.

State Rep. Randy Ramey, the chairman of the DuPage County Republican Party, briefly hints at his political clout when pulled over for a DUI last August, according to a video of his arrest. But Ramey, of Carol Stream, says the video taken from a Carol Stream police cruiser has surfaced for political reasons. He claims his opponent in the race for a state Senate seat is using it to pressure him to bow out of the race.
