Lawson will host a seminar on the appeal of residential property taxes at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10, at Schaumburg Township Hall, 1 Illinois Blvd. in Hoffman Estates. Any reductions of assessed value based on an appeal filed by Sept. 23 would take effect on the second installment of a property ownerís 2013 tax bill, payable in 2014.

    Parking lot resurfacing at Schaumburg Township will start on Monday, May 13. Part of the parking lot will be closed during the resurfacing project. The resurfacing project is expected to be completed in two sections. Visitors will still be able to park in the open lot and along Illinois Blvd.

    Although Moe Patelís name remains on todayís election ballot, only write-in votes for the Democratic Schaumburg Township trustee candidate will count, Cook County election officials say. Courtney Greve, a spokeswoman for the Cook County Clerkís Office, said Patelís name physically appears on the ballot but written notices were given to every township voter at the polls Tuesday indicating that votes for his name on the ballot wonít be counted.

Democratic trustee candidates Moe Patel, Mike Murray, Carolyn A. Quinn and Zuhair Nubani and highway commissioner candidate Michael Lenehan will challenge a largely incumbent Republican field April 9.
