Love country? Rock? Alternative? Big band? If you enjoy music, especially free music, then you'll love FreeTunes from the Schaumburg Township District Library (STDL). All you need is your STDL card to download three songs per week, every week, from a selection of thousands. You can search by artist, album or song, using a "smart" search box that will pull up anything containing your key words. And you can use Advanced Search to hunt by composer or genre.

All ages receive free books during World Book Night May 10, 2013 12:00 AM
More than 400 books were handed out by staff of the Schaumburg Township District Library during World Book Night on Tuesday, April 23, at the Campanelli YMCA, 300 W. Schaumburg Road. New books were donated by major publishers, while gently used books were donated by the library.

Lyons ends 44 years with Schaumburg Township Library May 9, 2013 12:00 AM
Schaumburg Township District Library Trustee Robert Lyons will end his 44-year tenure on the library board Monday, May 20 — one of the longest examples of continuous service by any elected official in the Northwest suburbs. "Obviously, I do so with a great deal of pride," Lyons said of his imminent departure. "I've gotten more from being on the board and part of the library than I could claim to have given to it."

Free books will be given away by the Schaumburg Township District Library to all ages from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 23 at the Campanelli YMCA, 300 W. Schaumburg Road in Schaumburg, as part of World Book Night. There is a limit of one book per person.

Elk Grove Park District will begin a nearly $7 million renovation/expansion of the Pavilion Aquatic Center after Sunday, that will result in a six-lane, 25-yard outdoor lap pool, a warm water exercise pool, an eight-lane, 25-yard indoor lap pool with diving area, new locker rooms, updated showers in the fitness center, and a new entrance to the aquatic area.
