Be first to cross home plate at Home Run 5K in Schaumburg May 21, 2013 12:00 AM
Schaumburg Park District’s Home Run 5K will begin at 8 a.m. June 2 in the Schaumburg Baseball Stadium parking lot and end inside Schaumburg Baseball Stadium, 1999 S. Springinsguth Road. The chip-timed event for ages 6 and older will be held on a USATF certified 3.1 mile course. Multiple age divisions are available for the 5K race.

Larson and Schaumburg Park District Commissioner Bob Schmidt shared a tandem bicycle from the ride's starting point at the park district's Meineke Recreation Center on Weathersfield Way.

Schaumburg's annual Fahrrad Tour von Schaumburg bike ride will kick off at noon Sunday, May 19 from Blackwell Elementary School, 345 N. Walnut Lane in Schaumburg. The approximately seven-mile journey utilizes both on and off-street bike paths between Blackwell School and the Robert O. Atcher Municipal Center, 101 Schaumburg Court.

Elk Grove Park District will begin a nearly $7 million renovation/expansion of the Pavilion Aquatic Center after Sunday, that will result in a six-lane, 25-yard outdoor lap pool, a warm water exercise pool, an eight-lane, 25-yard indoor lap pool with diving area, new locker rooms, updated showers in the fitness center, and a new entrance to the aquatic area.

Schaumburg parks hosts Underwater EGGstravaganza Mar 15, 2013 12:00 AM

The unique event features pool egg hunts, entertainment, games and prizes. There will be scheduled egg hunts per age group throughout the evening. Egg hunts will be in the play pool and parents will be able to assist small children.
