    A youth worship leader at a Lake Villa church pleaded guilty Tuesday to sexually abusing two girls under the age of 18. Matthew J. Harder, 18, of Round Lake Beach, was sentenced to 18 months of periodic imprisonment and 36 months of felony probation as part of the negotiated plea deal approved by Lake County Judge George Bridges.

    For the first time in years, drivers on Rollins Road at Route 83 in Round Lake Beach won't be stuck by commuter and freight trains. Traffic is scheduled to be shifted Thursday to a newly constucted Rollins Road that runs beneath a railroad bridge.

    Round Lake Beach police responded to a 911 call Tuesday of a woman who was injured by an unknown person, officials said. Officers responded to the 1500 block of Woodridge around 4:50 p.m. Preliminary reports that the subject may have been shot proved to be incorrect.

Ruff has been a member of the Northwestern Medicine Lake Forest Hospital medical staff for more than 30 years and will continue to perform surgery at Lake Forest Hospital and Grayslake Surgery Center.

  • Step Family Day raises awareness for blended families Sep 15, 2014 11:29 AM
    One in three Americans is now a stepparent, a stepchild, a step sibling, or member of a blended family. That’s a big change from the ‘Leave it to Beaver’ days. The fact is; the traditional nuclear family (families where both parents are married and live together) is on the decline, from 45 percent of households in 1960 to 23 percent this year. Sept. 16 is National Step Family Day, which raises awareness for this growing demographic of families.
