  • Kaneland’s Olson too much for Rosary Apr 7, 2014 9:55 PM
The Kaneland girls soccer team needed no extra incentive when Rosary came to Maple Park on Monday afternoon. Rosary ended the Knights’ season the last two years. “Actually, three out of the last four,” Kaneland coach Scott Parillo said. Brittany Olson scored twice in less than four minutes for the Knights in the opening half, and the senior co-captain added a third goal in heavy traffic late in the match to account for all the scoring in the Knights’ 3-0 nonconference win.

  • St. Edward disposes of Rosary Feb 19, 2014 10:52 PM
Most schools want nothing to do with Burlington Central, and for good reason. After reaching the Class 3A Elite Eight in 2013, the Rockets are 23-4, the top seed in their regional and have dominated nearly every opponent on their schedule behind a lethal offense and suffocating defense. But St. Edward isn’t one of the teams that fears Burlington Central and it’s easy to see why. The Green Wave are playing their best basketball of the season at just the right time, winning six straight games and eight of their last nine after getting starting center Cece Rapp back from injury. The most recent victory, a 60-36 romp over Rosary Wednesday, catapulted second-seeded St. Edward into a regional final showdown with the Rockets at noon Saturday at Aurora Central Catholic.
