    Rondout Elementary School students watched Tuesday as a time capsule was buried on the last day of classes as part of the school’s sesquicentennial celebration. Teachers and student watched the Rondout time capsule ceremony as the student historical department led the assembly to place items in the long, metal tube that would be used as the capsule celebrating the school’s 150th anniversary.

    Rondout School near Lake Forest could become the first school building in Lake County to be certified for the Conservation@ Home program, which encourages environmental practices. The school does not use lawn chemicals, for example, and incorporates various elements of ecological subjects into the curricuulum. About 130 properties have been certified in Lake County in the year since the program was introduced.
