An Associated Press investigation shows that a federal crackdown on illicit foreign supplies of human growth hormone has failed to stop rampant misuse, and instead has driven record sales.

Criminal charges are unlikely against members of the Hoffman Estates High School boys' varsity basketball team accused of hazing fellow students earlier this year, police said Monday. "The investigation at this point is going to be closed with no criminal charges pending," Hoffman Estates police Sgt. Darin Felgenhauer said.

Mooseheart officials are fighting an Illinois High School Association ban on three basketball players that are from Sudan and players on the school's basketball team. The IHSA has scheduled a hearing on Dec. 10 downstate for Mooseheart officials to plead their case. A Kane County judge Tuesday afternoon granted a temporary restraining order allowing the three to play games Tuesday and Wednesday until next week's hearing.

Hazing allegations involving Hoffman Estates team forces canceled gameNov 30, 2012 12:00 AM
Officials in Palatine-Schaumburg High School District 211 canceled a basketball game as they investigated allegations of hazing involving the Hoffman Estates boys varsity team. District administrators learned of the hazing allegations Friday afternoon and "conducted an immediate and thorough investigation involving all team members and the coach," said Tom Petersen, the school district's spokesman.
