    A police officer shot and killed a pit bull that attacked him when he responded to a call for a dispute between a resident and a postal worker, police said. Arris Newsome, 22, of Elgin, was arrested Wednesday and charged with aggravated assault and reckless conduct for not controlling her pit bull, according to police reports. A police officer responded to a call about a dispute between a postal worker and Newsome when Newsome started to argue with the officer, reports said. When she opened the door, the dog attacked the officer and the officer shot and killed it, according to reports.
