    Burglars stole items valued at $16,347 between 3:30 and 8:25 p.m. July 12 at a home on the 700 block of Meadow Drive in Des Plaines. They removed the cover to a window well, forced open the window and stole men’s and women’s watches, necklaces, earrings, bracelets, and rings, a sterling silver bowl, three silk saris, a silk dress, a gift card, two wallets, a camera, safety deposit key, blank checks and cash out of the master bedroom.

    Nancy C. Stringillo, 51, of the 6600 block of Columbine Street, Crystal Lake, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, no insurance and failure to dim headlights after a traffic stop at 1:10 a.m. July 10 at Route 47 and Plank Road near Hampshire, according to a sheriff report. A motorist reported another driver had driven into a ditch and cornfield, then returned to the road. Stringillo failed field sobriety tests and a breath test showed a .178 BAC, the report said.

    Joseph P. Liss, 24, of Elgin, was charged Wednesday with theft, according to court records. He is accused of taking a Gucci brand wristwatch from the owner June 27. The watch is valued at more than $500. His bail was set at $30,000 in Kane County bond court, and his next court date is July 23.
