    A burglar broke into the office Monday at Sugar Grove Family Fun Center, 9S825 Route 47. The burglar made a 3-by-4-foot hole in the siding of the post-frame building, then punched through drywall, to enter.

    Ronnie J. Anderson, 29, of Elgin, was charged Tuesday with battery, criminal damage to property and resisting/obstructing a police officer, court records show. Anderson shoved and kick a police officer, causing an ankle injury and damaging the officer’s bulletproof vest.

    Burglars stole two pairs of sunglasses, a headset, cellphone car charger, and AUX cable between 6 p.m. Aug. 12 and 5:30 a.m. Aug. 13 out of an unlocked 2010 Ford Focus on the 1400 block of East Northwest Highway in Arlington Heights. Value was estimated at $480.

    Saray V. Novoa-Vargas, 28, of South Elgin, was arrested at about 1 a.m. Friday in the 1000 block of South Randall Road, Elgin, and charged with fleeing/attempting to elude a police officer, driving under the influence and driving without a valid driver’s license, according to a police report. Novoa-Vargas didn’t immediately pull over when a police officer pulled up alongside her, made eye contact and motioned for her to pull over.

    Andre M. Maisonet. 24, of Sugar Grove, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, leaving the scene of an accident and failure to reduce speed after crash at 12:23 p.m. Saturday at Healy and Bliss roads near Sugar Grove, according to a sheriff’s report.

    A Browning 12-gauge Citori XT shotgun, valued at $2,650, was reported stolen at 1:05 p.m. Aug. 9 from the St. Charles Sportsman’s Club, 44W471 Keslinger Road near Elburn, according to a sheriff’s report.

    A woman moving from the 600 block to the 800 block of McHenry Road told Wheeling police her full-length black mink coat and 3/4-length sheared beaver coat were stolen while in the moving van between 10 a.m. Aug. 5 and noon Aug. 7. Value was estimated at $14,000.

    Two men working together stole razor blades at 7:25 p.m. June 1, 7 p.m. July 5 and 8:40 a.m. Aug. 8 from Walgreens, 1000 N. Roselle Road, Hoffman Estates. One man may have hidden the razor blades in a bag, then left. The second man then entered and quickly fled, carrying a bag over his head to avoid the security sensor at the door. Value of the stolen items for the June and July thefts was estimated at $1,650.

    A resident of the 3N800 block of Hawthorn Drive near St. Charles reported to police at noon Aug. 7 that $4,500 was withdrawn from her checking account at a Grand Rapids, Michigan, bank by a person who used a fake identification and signed a withdrawal form almost exactly like the victim’s signature.

    Joseph E. Spears, 48, of Batavia, was charged with misdemeanor animal cruelty at 11:30 p.m. Sunday at his residence, according to a sheriff’s report. Spears is accused of throwing a dog against a wall and TV during a domestic dispute.

    George Hernandez, 25, of Montgomery, was charged with possession of 2.5 grams to 10 grams of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, no vehicle insurance, expired registration and disobeying a traffic control device after a traffic stop at 7:59 p.m. Thursday at West New York and North River streets near Aurora, according to a sheriff’s report.

     
  • Fox Valley police reports Aug 12, 2014 1:18 AM
    Stephanie A. Michaelson, 21, of Elgin, was charged Sunday with disorderly conduct/making a false 911 call, court records show. Michaelson called 911 with her cellphone to report that she saw someone running with a gun in the area of Prairie and Gifford streets, police said. Michaelson later told police she made the false report because she didn’t want her boyfriend, Teaurus Lesure, who had been stopped by police on a traffic stop at that intersection, to go to jail.

     
  • Cement truck driver dies after Warrenville crash Aug 8, 2014 10:45 PM
    Warrenville police are investigating a single-vehicle accident that killed the driver of a commercial cement truck on Friday afternoon. No other vehicles were involved; it appears the driver suffered a medical emergency, police said, which led to him losing control of his vehicle.

    Vandals walked on freshly poured sidewalk concrete between noon and 7:25 p.m. Aug. 5 on the 100 and 200 blocks of West Walnut Avenue in Des Plaines. Damage was estimated at $3,000.
