A Schaumburg man was charged with criminal damage to property after a dispute over how fast motorists were driving on his street. Reports said he hurled a roll of tape that cracked the windshield on a vehicle he tried to stop because he felt it was going too fast. Reports said the driver at first just wanted the windshield repaired, but later said he wanted to press charges because the repair work had not been done.

A male driver stole the cellphone from a woman driver during a traffic altercation, Des Plaines police reports said. The female driver rear-ended the male and continued driving. The male driver checked the damage to his vehicle, then resumed driving, catching up to the Lancer stopped at a red light. He sidwswiped the female's vehicle and, when the female victim got out of her car, grabbed her cellphone and drove away, reports said.

Bike accident victim identified as Elk Grove woman May 15, 2013 12:00 AM
A bicyclist who was killed by a car Tuesday morning whole crossing Higgins Road at the exit ramp from northbound Route 53 has been identified. A spokeswoman from the Cook County medical examiner's office said the victim was Rosaleen Waters, 46, of Elk Grove Village.

Thieves stole the air conditioner unit from the roof of a building at 1090 Executive Way in Des Plaines. The roof was damaged and water has been leaking into the foreclosed building, reports said. Loss was estimated at $50,000.

Laurencio C. Pena Jr., 42, of Elgin, was charged Tuesday with forgery, issue or delivery of a forged document and identity theft after he used a relative's name, birth date and Social Security number to seek treatment at a hospital, according to a police report.

Daniel Dieter, 45, of Aurora, was charged with driving under the influence, DUI with a blood alcohol concentration of .08 or more, improper lane use and driving without lights when required after a traffic stop at 2 a.m. Saturday at South Randall Road and Gleneagle Drive near Geneva, according to a sheriff's report. Dieter failed field sobriety tests and a breath test, and registered a .14 BAC, the report said.

Mark A. Clough, 46, of South Elgin, appeared in Kane County bond court Tuesday on charges of arson, a felony, according to court records. Elgin police responded to a fire just before 10 p.m. April 28 at Advance Engineering Corp., 440 S. McLean Blvd., and an arson investigator determined the fire could not have started on its own, according to police reports. After several interviews Clough admitted to using a lighter to ignite the wrapping on a section of pipe in the building, costing the company $46,000 to reverse the damages, police reports said. Bail was set at $30,000.

Carter W. Myers, 19, of Batavia, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of cannabis (between 2.5 and 10 grams), at 9:51 p.m. Monday in the 600 block of South Batavia Avenue, according to a police report. He was also issued a warning for not having a rear license plate.

Brandy M. Jackson, 23, of the 2700 block of North 49th Street in Milwaukee, was arrested Thursday and charged for using a fake $100 bill to buy merchandise at the Bath and Body Works store inside Algonquin Commons, police said. Jackson's bail was set at $25,000 and she is due in court Wednesday.
