    Just weeks after starting a job that was the result of a recent promotion, a top Glenbard High School District 87 official resigned unexpectedly to take a position in another school district. Terri Hanrahan began work as Glenbard's coordinator of teaching and learning and Title I facilitator on July 1. She stepped down July 16. “I had eight great years at Glenbard. I'm very grateful to have had that opportunity,” Hanrahan said.

    A July 16 trial date is set for Cathleen Koch, who is accused of covering for her boyfriend, who faces charges of severely beating Koch's nearly 2-year-old daughter in a St. Charles hotel room in October 2010. Koch, who recently moved to Elgin, faces six to 30 years if convicted.

    An emotional sentencing hearing for Reginald Hearon, a former guard at the St. Charles youth prison who pleaded guilty to DUI and reckless homicide, is continued to Dec. 27. Hearon was speeding a killed Craig Smith, a 53-year-old St. Charles man, on Oct. 2, 2008 and faces up to 14 years in prison.

    A hearing to suppress statements made by Cathleen Koch, whose then 2-year-old daughter was severely beaten in a St. Charles hotel in October 2010, continued this week but might not wrap up until November. Koch, who is accused of obstructing the investigation and lying to cover up for her boyfriend, was crying in her first interview but calm in subsequent interviews with police, a detective testified Monday.

In all, more than 2,000 students will be competing, as they showcase the best dance, flag and poms routines from throughout the state.
