Barrington resident Bob Lee, 70, will be at Saturdays Barrington Area Kid Fest to begin his efforts toward A Ride for 3 Reasons: Part III a million-dollar fundraiser benefiting ALS, cancer and hospice. This September, Lee is planning to bike the the approximately 2,500 miles from Vancouver, Canada, to Tijuana, Mexico.

Houlihan’s closure sends “Lunch Bunch” packing Mar 29, 2012 12:00 AM
The closing of Houlihans restaurant near Woodfield Mall in Schaumburg this week brought to a close a weekly tradition among a group of friends stretching back unbroken for 16 years. The Lunch Bunch met every Tuesday in a semi-private room at the restaurant. Now its members are scouting potential new meeting locations.

Children’s author presents ‘Titanic Remembered’ in Schaumburg Mar 24, 2012 12:00 AM
Friendship Village in Schaumburg will team up with childrens author and storytelling performer Lynn Rymarz to give area residents a night to remember with a commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic on April 13. Titanic Remembered will consist of both an early-dinner event costing $25 and Rymarzs free, one-woman show as The Unsinkable Molly Brown at 7:30 p.m.

The 27th annual Sugar Bush Fair at Spring Valley Nature Center, presented by Whole Foods Market in Schaumburg, will include an outdoor breakfast featuring pancakes with maple syrup, sausage, juice and coffee.
