    A Cook County judge on Wednesday left in place the $2 million bail for a Palatine man accused of throwing an unprovoked punch that fatally injured a 26-year-old man during a July 18 dispute outside a bar. Michael Platt, 35, appeared in court for the first time since authorities filed a first-degree murder charge against him alleging he killed Ryan Flannigan with a punch thrown during the altercation in downtown Palatine.

    A Palatine man accused of throwing an unprovoked punch that fatally injured a 26-year-old man outside a bar is in custody on a newly filed charge of first-degree murder, police said Tuesday. “This is a tragedy from a senseless act of violence,” police Cmdr. Michael Seebacher said. The victim, Ryan Flannigan, was described by his sister as "kind, considerate and selfless."

    A Palatine man accused of throwing a punch that fatally injured a 26-year-old man during an altercation outside a bar is in custody on a newly filed charge of first-degree murder, police said this afternoon. Michael Platt, 35, previously faced a charge of aggravated battery stemming from allegations he struck Ryan Flannigan on July 18 in the village's downtown. Flannigan, who never regained consciousness, died his injuries Monday afternoon.
