  •  Members of the College of DuPage Faculty Association marched down Lambert Road in Glen Ellyn last month to call attention to stalled contract negotiations. Union officials announced early Saturday they reached a tentative agreement with the college’s administration.     Negotiating teams for the College of DuPage and the school's faculty association have reached a tentative contract agreement — just days before a contract imposed by COD's board of trustees was set to take effect. The deal was struck just after midnight Saturday — the result of bargaining sessions on Thursday and Friday that lasted a combined 25 hours, said Faculty Association President Glenn Hansen.

  • Schaumburg squeezes out a win at York May 24, 2012 12:00 AM
    The elements at York on Thursday afternoon weren't exactly conducive to a pitchers duel. But there were Dukes hurler Louis Alcaraz and his counterpart, Schaumburg's Max Paolicchi, both throwing shutouts through almost 5 innings in the face of a gusty 30-mph wind blowing straight out to left field. Then the floodgates opened — especially for the Saxons. Visiting Schaumburg got only had 6 hits, but 5 of them came in the final two frames as the 10th-seeded Saxons defeated York 4-3 in a Class 4A regional semifinal host by the Dukes in Elmhurst. Schaumburg (22-13) moves on to play St. Charles North at 10 a.m. Saturday in the regional final.

    Michal Kawa describes his jump serve as something that's been "progressive" throughout the season. The Elk Grove senior saw plenty of progress in that phase of the game on Wednesday night. Kawa helped the Grenadiers jump out to a sizable first-set lead, and backed by an energetic home crowd, top-seeded Elk Grove rolled to a 25-14, 25-14 victory over eight seed York in the Elk Grove regional final to earn a spot in Elgin sectional semifinal on Friday. The victory gave Elk Grove its fifth regional title and also secured the program's first 30-win season.

Board members agreed Tuesday night to keep their salaries unchanged through the end of November 2016. Nearly all of them make $50,079 annually. If he wins re-election, board member Grant Eckhoff will continuing earning $48,620 a year for the job.
