The world’s biggest hamburger chain says it’s bringing back a longtime McDonald’s executive, Mike Andres, to fill the role effective Oct. 15. Andres replaces Jeff Stratton, who is retiring.

The 331 pages of emails, obtained by the Daily Herald through a Freedom of Information Act request, are exchanges Biondo had with members of the six-member forest preserve commission between June 30 and Aug. 5, the day the board announced Biondo had been placed on paid leave.

    Oak Brook-based McDonald’s Corp.’s Russian business shut four Moscow restaurants yesterday at the order of a consumer-safety regulator, which said it found multiple violations of sanitary rules.The Rospotrebnadzor agency ordered several restaurants to be closed after a probe into ingredients and wastewater this week, according to the consumer watchdog’s website. McDonald’s, the world’s largest fast-food chain by revenue, has 438 restaurants in Russia.

    More than 46 years have passed since a mortar blast in Leroy Bailey’s tent took his vision and destroyed his face in Vietnam. Despite the debilitating injury, Bailey still can enjoy some of the finer things in life, such as sinking two 20-foot putts on a sunny August afternoon. Bailey, 68, of LaCrosse, Indiana, was one of 10 visually impaired and blind veterans participating in Wednesday’s golf outing at the Hilton’s Willow Crest Golf Course in Oak Brook.

    Roofers using a propane torch on tar sparked a small fire Saturday morning at a 15-story Oak Brook office building, authorities said. The blaze, contained to the roof, damaged some construction materials, Oak Brook Battalion Chief Tom Stanfa said.
