Administrators and board of education members from Wheaton Warrenville Unit District 200, Naperville Unit District 203 and Indian Prairie Unit District 204 met with legislators over breakfast at Lincoln Junior High in Naperville to discuss the possible impact of Senate Bill 16.

A proposal from AT&T to install towers at Kennedy and Lincoln junior highs is off the table, officials said Thursday. “Our superintendent will always bring alternative revenue sources to the board that he thinks are viable for our community, but at this point in time, the junior high proposal through AT&T is off the table,” District 203 school board President Jackie Romberg said Thursday.

    Two Naperville men have compiled tips about vehicle maintenance, parking, surviving the unexpected and even navigating the court system into a book called “What Teenage Drivers Don't Know: The Unwritten Rules of the Road.” “I've driven through the worst of the worst across the country as far as weather conditions go, traffic conditions, everything,” said John Harmata, the primary author. “I can safely teach my kids things that are not being taught in driver's ed classes, that you only learn by years of experience.”

    Custodians and maintenance workers soon will be cleaning and repairing facilities in Naperville Unit District 203 for $1 more an hour under a new contract the school board approved Monday. The four-year agreement gives 147 members of Naperville Unit Maintenance Association a $1 an hour raise for the first year, followed by a 3 percent raise the second year and raises equal to the change in the consumer price index the third and fourth years, as long as the amount is between 1.4 percent and 2.5 percent.

They will be evaluated based partially on student growth as Naperville Unit District 203 looks to incorporate pupil performance into educator reviews. "It doesn’t have any ramifications right now other than we want to experiment with it and we want to make sure we get it right,” said Mark Bailey, president of the Naperville Unit Education Association.
