Carol Stream Park District ponders beer, wine sales Aug 29, 2012 12:00 AM
Participants in adult sporting events and spectators at McCaslin Park in Carol Stream might soon be able to purchase beer and wine from the park's concession stand. Park district officials say they are looking into that possibility in an attempt to collect additional revenue, though it's too early to say if it will become a reality.

Synthetic turf coming to Melas Park fields Aug 13, 2012 12:00 AM
The Arlington Heights Park District is about halfway done installing new synthetic field turf on the baseball and softball fields at Melas Park, officials said. The infields on all four baseball and softball fields at the park, 1500 Central Road, will be replaced by the end of October, said John Robinson, the district's superintendent of recreation.

After years of planning and discussion, the Mount Prospect Park Board approved a bid for a permanent veterans memorial in Lions Memorial Park, which could open as soon as early 2013. "I'm one of six sons that served in the military. This means an awful lot," said Bob McKillop.

The Mount Prospect Park District brings recreational fishing to youngsters age 4 to 14 on Saturday, September 17, from 9-11 am at Robert T. Jackson Clearwater Park. The fishing derby will open at 8:30 a.m. with an educational clinic on water and safety presented by Ron Aichholzer.
