The Mount Prospect Park District is undergoing great change at the leadership level. Executive Director Greg Kuhs took over for longtime chief executive Walter Cook at the end of March. Next month, three new commissioners will be sworn into office, and the district will say goodbye to three present commissioners.

Elk Grove Park District will begin a nearly $7 million renovation/expansion of the Pavilion Aquatic Center after Sunday, that will result in a six-lane, 25-yard outdoor lap pool, a warm water exercise pool, an eight-lane, 25-yard indoor lap pool with diving area, new locker rooms, updated showers in the fitness center, and a new entrance to the aquatic area.

Longtime Mt. Prospect Park District CEO retiring Oct 29, 2012 12:00 AM
Walter L. Cook, the chief executive officer of the Mount Prospect Park District, will resign early next year, ending a 32-year career that included two decades as the agency's top administrator. Cook's resignation effective March 29 was formally accepted last week by the district's board of commissioners, which now will establish a hiring committee to search for his successor.

Mt. Prospect to welcome new veterans memorial Oct. 6 Oct 2, 2012 12:00 AM
Veterans, Mount Prospect residents and local officials will dedicate the Mount Prospect Veterans Memorial expansion, at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 6. The site is adjacent to Veterans Memorial Band Shell in Lions Memorial Park. A short program is planned to officially dedicate this new addition to the Mount Prospect community.
