    A Mount Prospect fire engine picked local second-grader Carter Jedras up at his house and drove him to Fairview Elementary School on Thursday. The ride was part of a prize the Jedras family won at a recent fundraising dinner.

    Most social studies classrooms in Mount Prospect Elementary District 57 will use a new web-based version of the existing history curriculum next year, allowing teachers to access lessons and activities electronically and take advantage of information that's updated in real time. Teachers who piloted the program this year give it high marks.

The event was to benefit Lions Park Elementary School teacher Linda Frahm, who is battling cancer. Frahm was Connolly’s teacher before she went on leave.

    It promises to be a tough fight against cancer for Palatine resident Linda Frahm, but she gained some comfort Sunday, knowing a lot of people are in her corner. Frahm received an overwhelming show of support from the community during a Haircuts for Hope fundraiser held for her at Halo Hair & Nails in Mount Prospect. Proceeds from haircuts and nail treatments went to benefit Frahm, 48, a teacher in Mount Prospect School District 57 for the past 26 years. She currently teaches at Lions Park Elementary School.Frahm is battling metastatic breast cancer.

    April Jordan, principal of Fairview Elementary School in Mount Prospect, will leave at the end of this school year to become principal at The Skokie School in Winnetka District 36. Mount Prospect Elementary District 57 Superintendent Elaine Aumiller said the district will move swiftly to find a new principal to lead Fairview.
