    Walt Lemon Jr. scored 16 points and the Brave’s defense held Loyola of Chicago to just 27 percent shooting , leading to a 55-38 Bradley victory on Saturday night. Bradley (12-17, 7-9 Missouri Valley) managed just a 19-17 lead over Loyola (9-19, 4-12) at the break as tenacious defense controlled the pace. The second period opened with Loyola’s shooting accuracy still stymied by Bradley’s defense, while the Braves raced to a 33-20 lead on a 14-3 run with 13:49 to play. The Bradley lead expanded to 20 points, 54-34, with 1:34 remaining. The Ramblers scored just four points in the final 5 minutes and landed just 1 of 18 from 3-point range in its attempt to move out of the Missouri Valley cellar position. Loyola, losers of four straight was led in scoring by Christian Thomas with 9 points.

The Shockers shot 23 percent (6 of 26) in the second half.

The Ramblers, who were ranked No. 2 last week, defeated Sacred Heart on Friday and No. 13 Harvard on Saturday as No. 1 ranked Pepperdine lost Friday to No. 5 Long Beach State.

    Milton Doyle scored eight of his 28 points in overtime to lift Loyola of Chicago to a 93-87 overtime victory over Northern Iowa on Saturday. Doyle hit a 3-pointer and was 5 of 6 from the line as Loyola outscored Northern Iowa 17-11 in overtime. Doyle finished 8 of 11 from the field and made 10 of his 11 free throws attempts.

    Reggie Lynch scored 11 points, grabbed five rebounds and sparked the second half breakaway run that gave Illinois State a 59-50 win over Loyola of Chicago on Saturday night. After battling to a 27-27 tie at the break, Illinois State (9-7, 2-2 Missouri Valley Conference) opened the second half with a 15-2 run sparked by a Lynch jumper to take control of the game. The Redbirds protected the advantage, outscoring Loyola 32-23 in the final period.
