About 100 people bid farewell to Lake Zurich-area teacher, historian and philanthropist Spencer Loomis, who died last weekend. He was remembered Thursday as a loving father and husband who touched the lives of hundreds of friends, students and family members. He truly lived life to the fullest, daughter Peggy Loomis Spencer said at the funeral service.

Text messages from dean were “weird,” Stevenson High student told police Apr 25, 2012 12:00 AM
A Stevenson High School dean who resigned last week sent texts to a student the teen found "weird" and made him feel uncomfortable, police reports obtained by the Daily Herald show. The messages, exchanged over several months, were not criminal in nature or overtly sexual, Lincolnshire police said. No charges have been filed, and none are planned.

Lake Zurich resident Scott McConnell was appointed to fill a vacancy on the local school board Thursday night. McConnell, 39, was one of five candidates interviewed for the post on the Lake Zurich Unit District 95 board. He replaces Kathleen Wallis, who resigned in early February because of family issues.

Funeral set for Dist. 95 teacher who died last week Feb 28, 2012 12:00 AM
A funeral will be held Friday for a Sarah Adams Elementary School teacher who died last week. The service for Christine M. DiVincenzo, 43, of Hawthorn Woods, will begin at noon at Ahlgrim's Funeral Home, 201 N. Northwest Hwy., Palatine. Visitation will be 3 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home and again from 10 a.m. to noon Friday.

A fifth-grade teacher at Sarah Adams Elementary School in Lake Zurich has died, authorities confirmed Monday. Christine DiVincenzo, 43, of Hawthorn Woods, died Friday evening, Lake County Coroner Artis Yancey said.
