    Island Lake Police Officer Gilbert Hueramo is a walking medicine chest. On Oct 16, he got a chance to put the equipment and his training to use as he and fellow Officer Victoria Gwizdak helped save the lives of two wounded deputies in Holiday Hills. “The most important thing is, whether it's a police officer or a civilian who is wounded, you've gotta stop the bleeding and get them out to a trauma center,” Hueramo said.

    Elgin Community College Musical Theatre announces auditions for the spring production of the “Crazy for You: The New Gershwin Musical.” “Crazy for You” includes high-energy dance numbers and classic Gershwin songs, including “I Got Rhythm,” “Embraceable You,” and “Someone to Watch Over Me.” Set in the 1930s, this rollicking, romantic, and timeless musical centers on a well-to-do playboy who dreams of becoming a dancer. Auditions are available by appointment from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 6, and 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 9.
