Lake Zurich Unit District 95 has settled one of two lawsuits claiming officials ignored complaints regarding inappropriate sexual conduct by a high school teacher toward a student about eight months before criminal charges were filed against him in 2010. Without comment and without admitting liability, elected officials last month agreed to pay $192,000 to settle the suit.

Lake Zurich High School choir to perform in the Vatican, across Italy Mar 20, 2013 12:00 AM
Just a week after a new pope was named to lead the Roman Catholic Church, the Lake Zurich High School choir is headed to Italy and a performance in Vatican City. The students will sing during a 5 p.m. Mass on Friday at St. Peter's Basillica, one of the holiest Catholic sites. More than 120 students are participating, accompanied by 12 adult chaperones and about 30 parents traveling on what they're calling a fan tour.

Retroactive raise for Lake Zurich Unit District 95 Superintendent Michael Egan Mar 14, 2013 12:00 AM
Lake Zurich Unit District 95's superintendent has received a retroactive raise because board members say he's met performance goals. Following school board approval, Egan signed a contract amendment March 1 giving him a 2.6 percent raise retroactive to the beginning of the current academic year. His annual base salary went from $193,000 to $198,108 with the hike retroactive to July 1.
