    Lake County officials have issued a boil order for homes in Hawthorn Woods, Forest Lake, and Glennshire after a power outage shut down electrical service at an important water well pump, officials said. Austin McFarlane, spokesman for the Lake County Public Works, said the AQUA Well Station that feeds water to about 300 homes lost power “for a couple of hours” Friday morning. He said because of the power outage, the water system lost pressure, which could have resulted in unsanitary water conditions.

    Hawthorn Woods police say a Rolling Meadows teenager killed himself Tuesday in a village park. Police Chief Jennifer Paulus said the 18-year-old boy died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. She said someone who saw a Twitter message from the boy called police.
