Lake Zurich moves forward with Paulus Park proposal Jun 25, 2012 12:00 AM
The Lake Zurich village board voted to approve a 760,400 project proposal to improve Paulus Park on Monday. The project will include the construction of a new fishing dock with an 88-foot path, a pavillion with a 100 person capacity, an amphitheater and a new playground with interactive games. Keith Demchinski, principal from Norris Design, a planning and landscape architecture firm, who has been working on the project for over a year said the park and recreation board worked hard to revamp the proposal to make it more cost effective while maintaining necessary improvements.

Public pressure came to bear in Lake Zurich as the village board unanimously voted against selling nearly seven acres of Paulus Park as surplus property to generate revenue. About 30 residents turned out Monday night to discourage the board from declaring a section of the 41-acre park as surplus so it could be combined with an adjacent triangle-shaped two-acre parcel owned by Jack Deschauer.
