Sunny weather greeted guests as they got a close-up look at the College of DuPage Truck Driving School at the Glen Ellyn Park District's annual Touch-A-Truck event Saturday, May 6. The free event, held at MaryKnoll Park, allowed children hands-on opportunities with various vehicles that capture their attention on the road, around town and at constructions sites.

College of DuPage Board Chairman Deanne Mazzochi (center in white jacket) is surrounded by athletes from Hester Junior High during the recent Special Olympics Spring Games on May 7 at the College's Bjarne Ulsvik Stadium. Joining Mazzochi were Vice Chairman Frank Napolitano, Secretary Christine Fenne and Trustee Daniel Markwell. SPRINGFIELD- State Senator Tom Cullerton (D-Villa Park) is disappointed in the hypocrisy of the lieutenant governor's statements during the Illinois Senate Appropriations Committee. During the committee, Lieutenant Governor Evelyn Sanguinetti reiterated she believed her office should not be eliminated because of the succession process and the important government consolidation work she is spearheading.

COD Students Take First Place at Radiography Scholar Bowl

For the second year consecutively, four students from the College of DuPage Diagnostic Medical Imaging Radiography program took first place at the Radiography Scholar Bowl state championship. COD's winning team included (from left) Keith Wells (Hodgkins), Natalie Merchut (Lombard), Christina Burch (Yorkville) and Angelique Roberts (Naperville).
College of DuPage Offers Free 'Citizens Public Safety Academy' This Summer

The Homeland Security Training Institute (HSTI) at College of DuPage is offering the Citizens Public Safety Academy, a free program designed to provide participants the opportunity to become more aware of and involved with their own safety. Classes will be held from 6:30 to 9 p.m. on Tuesdays from June 6 to Aug. 1 in the SSG Robert J. Miller Homeland Security Education Center, on the College's Glen Ellyn campus, 425 Fawell Blvd. During this program, funded by a grant from the Motorola Solutions Foundation, participants will learn about a broad range of topics presented by law enforcement and emergency response experts from a variety of organizations. Covering topics such as crime prevention, current frauds and scams, disaster response, fire safety, and firearm safety, participants will also take part in off-site tours, presentations and a variety of interactive activities.
