Silent treament in Webber’s first win at Warren Nov 20, 2012 12:00 AM
Future Ryan Webber wins will undoubtedly be greeted with applause from Warren's boys basketball fans. Tuesday night, however, there was nary a cheer after Webber earned his first victory as Blue Devils coach. Just before the start of the second half between host Warren and Lake Forest Academy, a fight broke out in the bleachers. After a long delay, which included both teams being sent to their locker rooms, spectators were instructed to exit the gym. When play finally resumed, after a delay that lasted 35 minutes, Warren slowly built on a 17-point halftime advantage and cruised to a 60-39 win, which evened the Blue Devils' record at 1-1 in the Thanksgiving tournament they are co-hosting with Mundelein. The second half was played in front of only coaches who were scouting the game, game officials and media.

Great start for Ramsey, Warren Nov 23, 2011 12:00 AM
The beginning of the end got off to a great start. Longtime Warren boys basketball coach Chuck Ramsey announced last week that this season, his 19th as head coach, would be his last hurrah in Gurnee. Already retired from teaching, Ramsey will ride off into the coaching sunset on the coattails of a team that should again contend for the Class 4A state title. The Blue Devils return many familiar faces, including Division I heavyweights Darius Paul (Western Michigan) and Nathan Boothe (Toledo), from last year’s state runner-up squad. On Wednesday, Warren lived up to expectations in its season opener against Lake Forest Academy in the first round of the Waukegan Thanksgiving tournament. The Blue Devils got out to a big early lead and coasted to a 54-33 victory.
