Services set for Maple Park man killed by driver of stolen car Dec 5, 2012 12:00 AM
Visitation and funeral services are set Monday and Tuesday for a 2012 Kaneland High School graduate who was killed when his car was hit head on by a Wisconsin woman driving a car reported stolen from Wheaton. Zachary Bingham, 18, of Maple Park, planned to pursue a career in the trades as a welder and was taking classes at Elgin Community College.

Campton Hills plans survey for drug recovery center Dec 1, 2012 12:00 AM
Campton Hills leaders plan to conduct a postcard survery through its December newsletter to get opinions on the controversial Kiva Recovery Center proposed for a former boys school. The village wants postcards returned by Dec. 15 in preparation for a possible vote on Dec. 17. Opponents still want a referendum on the April ballot, though.

A 96-bed drug treatment center proposed for Campton Hills gained a key recommendation from the plan commission last week, but people opposing the facility are not giving up. Opponents of the Kiva Recovery Center want the village board to put the matter to a villagewide vote in April.

Campton Hills Plan Commission on Monday indicated support of a private drug and alcohol recovery center at a former boys school. Residents object to the Kiva Recovery Center, saying meth and heroin addicts would pose a security risk, burden the fire department, reduce property values and hurt the village's image. The matter will next move to the village board.
