  • Waubonsee enrollment continuing to climb Jul 18, 2013 12:00 AM
    Waubonsee Community College is bucking the trend in enrollment, reporting an increase in students in three recent periods. Summer 2012 enrollment was 7,801, up 7.3 percent over summer 2011; fall 2012 was 12,380, up 2.6 percent; and spring 2013 was 12,266, up 3.7 percent.

    Waubonsee Community College is selling its former downtown Aurora campus for $1.5 million to a firm interested in turning the two buildings into stores and apartments. The college board approved the sale Wednesday night to Gorman and Co. It expects to close the sale in January.

    Geneva park damage may be worse than first thought Apr 22, 2013 12:00 AM
    Damage to Island Park in Geneva may be more extensive than park district officials estimated, parks director Sheavoun Lambillotte said Monday afternoon. It appears Thursday's torrents of river water washed away much of the dirt-related work done last summer while the park was closed during reconstruction of the north bridge. Meanwhile, North Aurora is asking residents to submit reports of any damage they suffered, to be turned in to Kane County for its application for federal aid.
