    Saint Mary School Principal Nikki Raftery headed off to Harvard University, specifically the Data Wise Institute. This wasn’t a vacation or workshop. Raftery was chosen by the Archdiocese of Chicago Catholic Schools to attend the ground breaking conference. Of the 207 Archdiocese elementary schools, Raftery was identified as a principal who has done a great job facilitating the analysis of data and using this analysis to drive academic achievement.

    The Feet Fest 3K Family Fun Run/Walk will begin at 8:30 a.m. at Towne Square, 150 W. Palatine Road, Palatine. The preregistration deadline for the race is Tuesday, Aug. 19, at 7 p.m.

  • Barrington United Methodist Church Rummage Sale Oct. 3-4 Aug 7, 2014 7:10 AM
    The Rummage Sale at Barrington United Methodist Church, southeast corner of Rt. 59 and Rt. 62 (Algonquin Rd.), is celebrating its 81st year! Come to find a bit of everything: clothing, shoes, accessories, furniture, lamps, small appliances, electronics, tools, sporting goods, toys, linens, household items, books, CD's, DVD's, videos, computer hardware and software, holiday items, crafts, and fabrics. A separate room--the French Room--is filled with antiques, collectibles, china, fine quality clothing, and jewelry. Furniture and sporting goods fill a tent. The sale begins at 9:00 am on Friday October 3 and ends at 7:00 pm. On Saturday, October 4, the sale begins at 9:00 am and ends at noon. Saturday is a bag sale: buy a plastic bag and fill it for just $5.00 in selected departments. The French Room will be half price on Saturday.

    On June 9, 2014 at the Court of Honor Ceremony, the fourth annual Sandra Meinholz Spirit of Scouting Foundation Scholarship was awarded to Allen Kuncharia and Declan Sawyer, Boy Scout Troop 140. Each scout received a $500 scholarship that is placed in a personal account to be used toward their advancement in scouting.
