Even on fishing shows, how you speak matters Apr 24, 2013 12:00 AM

Big fun right now chasing shallow-water browns Apr 10, 2013 12:00 AM
Have we angered the weather gods? Is there a possibility some outer space planetary misalignment is causing this country to suffer through the constant, never-ending stinky weather? Suggestions for fishing destinations far and near Apr 3, 2013 12:00 AM
I used to keep track of the emails asking me where "they" should go for a fishing vacation? But I lost count after the tally soared way past 500. For example, I would rarely concentrate on walleyes over big northern pike and monster Canadian lake trout. But to put the questions to rest, at least for the time being, here are my suggestions.

Satisfying close-to-home trips are always in the budget Jan 2, 2013 12:00 AM
Part of the fun of the fishing off-season is the chance to plan next year's trips. So go ahead and think about that trip of a lifetime, but remember, there are plenty of great opportunities close to home, and you can hit a bunch of them for just a few bucks in traveling costs.

For fishing, light lines still the way to go Dec 26, 2012 12:00 AM
Don't pay too much attention to bass anglers using heavy gear to horse fish out of heavy cover. Ultralight fishing puts much of the fun back into the sport and makes every fish an achievement, as Mike Jackson explains in this week's column.
