LeBron continues to blur comparisons to greatness May 14, 2013 12:00 AM
LeBron James isn't as successful or as popular as Michael Jordan was. However, King James has avoided controversy and scandal better than His Airness did.

Rose will return ... but guessing when just sillyMay 8, 2013 12:00 AM
Prior to the Bulls' lopsided loss at Miami on Wednesday, rumors swirled that Derrick Rose might return for Game 3 on Friday. Of course, nothing will be official until the man himself roars, "Tonight's the night!" Bulls fans seem to understand that Rose wouldn't be able to play many minutes or be very effective after such a long layoff. Yet a large segment of them want him back. Meanwhile, other large segments want him to do everything from continue resting to be traded.

Hometown hero Rose’s fairy tale is over May 6, 2013 12:00 AM
Bulls fans will welcome Derrick Rose whenever he decides to return to playing in games. However, he'll be scrutinized like any other player instead of as a hometown folk hero living out a fairy tale.

Somehow, some way, Bulls get it done May 6, 2013 12:00 AM
The Bulls were supposed to be the team that was tired Monday night. Instead, they caught the well-rested Heat napping in Game 1 of their NBA East semifinal playoff series.

Bulls prove they don’t need Derrick Rose May 5, 2013 12:00 AM
The Nets learned something in Game 7: So much emphasis is placed on the Bulls' hard work and hustle that it's easy to overlook that these guys -- without Derrick Rose -- can play this game, too, Mike Imrem says. Playing without their superstar point guard, as usual, this remarkable group of battered basketball players advanced to the second round of the NBA playoffs Saturday night.

Gutty effort goes for naught May 2, 2013 12:00 AM
The Bulls lost Game 6 to the Nets but it might have been one of the best losses in the history of losses.

Bulls make sense for Collins’ next stop Apr 30, 2013 12:00 AM
Jason Collins still needs a team to be the first openly gay, active male player in America's four major professional sports ... so how about the Bulls signing him?

Bulls’ loss really not so distressing Apr 29, 2013 12:00 AM
A difference of opinion: One man distressed by the Bulls'19-point loss in Game 5 and another impressed that they were within 1 point midway through the fourth quarter.

Nothing small about Robinson’s effort for Bulls Apr 27, 2013 12:00 AM
The unique Nate Robinson was on fire Saturday, lighting the flame the enabled the Bulls to take command of their playoff series against the Brooklyn Nets.

Bulls able to put their best foot forward in win Apr 25, 2013 12:00 AM
Game 3 of the Bulls-Nets playoff series appeared to be coming down to which team had the MVP. Most Valuable Podiatrist, that would be. Two key players — Bulls center Joakim Noah and Nets guard Joe Johnson — are suffering from plantar fasciitis. So, what? You expected these teams to participate in a track meet on feet like these? This was more like a pub-crawl as the Bulls won 79-76 by being a teeny bit less awful than the Nets were.

No good reason for Keith to be such a grouch Apr 23, 2013 12:00 AM
Hockey players are the most cooperative in professional sports, but Blackhawks defenseman Duncan Keith seems to feel compelled to be a serial grump.

Noah willing, able and sparking Bulls Apr 22, 2013 12:00 AM
Joakim Noah isn't shy about showing off, and he rarely has been more noticeable than in the fourth quarter Monday night, when he helped the Bulls tie their first-round playoff series against the Nets.

There's just no hope for Ricketts' Cubs guarantee Apr 17, 2013 12:00 AM
Tom Ricketts mentions "Cubs" and "World Series" in the same sentence. Sorry, but I just can't believe Ricketts on this one. I already must accept too many of life's mysterious treasures on faith, among them girls, golf and God. To add a Cubs championship to the list is asking too much.

Has Rose all but squandered fans' goodwill? Apr 17, 2013 12:00 AM
If Derrick Rose doesn't play until next season, some might view it as a second strike against him in his relationship with Bulls fans. The Bulls' fan base was sympathetic after Rose's injury but some gradually veered toward curiosity and then toward criticism. More and more became more and more aggravated with his reluctance to give a game a go.

What does future hold for sports and security? Apr 15, 2013 12:00 AM
Tom Ricketts expects the Cubs to win a championship if his renovation proposal is approved. After the explosions at the Boston Marathon, what will security have to be like by the time a World Series is played in Wrigley Field?

Kind of a bummer Cabrera didn’t winApr 14, 2013 12:00 AM
By all accounts, Adam Scott is one of professional golf's terrific people. Too bad he won the Masters on Sunday. Nothing against Scott, but look at him next to Angel Cabrera and justice has to prefer the latter. Someone my age at least has to favor the older guy over the younger guy, the burly guy who seems to have body fat under his sweater over the guy with a flat belly under his tightfitting shirt and the guy who uses a conventional putter over the guy with one of those controversial long putters.

A healthy way to look at Rose situation Apr 10, 2013 12:00 AM
Derrick Rose gets to go back to work when he feels he’s ready; I have to go back to work when a doctor says I’m ready. The most irritating aspect of sports is that they insist on residing outside of what passes as society’s current normal.

No reason to silence boo-birds at WrigleyApr 9, 2013 12:00 AM
Are people actually debating whether fans in Wrigley Field should have booed Cubs’ former closer/current mop-up guy Carlos Marmol. Of course they should have. What was the alternative? Throwing beer bottles at the mound like this were an East Texas honky-tonk? Throwing vegetables like this were 1930s vaudeville?

Cubs would never go for this win-win-win solution Apr 8, 2013 12:00 AM
The craziness revolving around the Cubs' attempt to renovate Wrigley Field has reached new heights, or maybe depths: A Wrigleyville group believes more parking is a bad idea. Ricketts said when asked whether he was surprised at a Wrigleyville group’s objection to more parking, “Honestly, we haven’t had public hearings on that. I’m not sure what the objections are.”

Wrigley Field deal fine as long as fine print is too Apr 7, 2013 12:00 AM
Each party has been looking out for its own best interests in the negotiations to renovate Wrigley Field. Could it be that "nobody's right if everybody's wrong?"
