More than 600 people came with their dogs to NAMIWalks, a 5K walk sponsored by the National Alliance on Mental Illness–Cook County North Suburban. The walk was on Saturday, Oct. 18., in Blue Star Memorial Woods, Glenview Woods, and Harms Woods in Glenview.

There's not much the candidates for the state House's 57th District seat agree on, from pension reform to extending the income tax increase. Still, Bill Grossi, a Republican making his first run for public office, says 12-year incumbent Democrat Elaine Nekritz is beatable.

Gun owners criticize aspects of new concealed carry law

An informational meeting held by Democratic state Rep. Elaine Nekritz in Wheeling Wednesday, which was intended to clarify some gray areas of Illinois' new concealed carry law, largely focused on the criticisms of current gun owners who described themselves as responsible and law-abiding. James Hopkins came all the way from Antioch to share his thoughts before an audience of about 50 at the Indian Trails Public Library.
Proposal would let some four-time DUI offenders get driver's licenses

Local lawmakers are considering giving people with four DUIs a chance to get restricted drivers permits, changing the law that bans them from getting an Illinois license for life. State Rep. Elaine Nekritz, a Northbrook Democrat, won preliminary approval from a House committee Wednesday.
