Recently, the Illinois House approved good legislation, HB 161, that would help eliminate fraud in Illinois’ Link card (food stamp) program. How did our state representative vote on this important anti-fraud measure? Michelle Mussman (D-Schaumburg) voted “no” on this common sense reform, and so did her party boss and biggest campaign funding source, Illinois House speaker Michael Madigan.

  • See how it’s done, Washington? May 2, 2011 12:00 AM
Yesterday I attended a town-hall meeting sponsored by Michelle Mussman, our new state rep. Together they brought us up to date on current legislation, shared mutual frustrations with the state’s financial woes and worked together to make everyone in the room a little smarter.

  • NW suburban legislators need to support special needs Dec 19, 2010 8:34 AM
During the recent campaign in the 56th House District, issues took a back seat to attack mail, in convincing people to vote for either candidate. If the winner would have stopped long enough to listen, good ideas to help families with special needs children would have come out of it.

Democrat Michelle Mussman claimed victory Wednesday in the 56th District state House race after Republican rival Ryan Higgins called to concede what was one of the suburbs’ most narrowly decided contests. After a long night and early morning during which Mussman consistently clung a slim lead over Higgins, final unofficial results posted Wednesday afternoon declared her the winner.

Michelle Mussman did not vote on issues such as reducing the Stroger sales tax increase. She did not vote on building new libraries and health care centers. She did not vote for public safety and first responders.

  • Electing Mussman a good place to begin Oct 31, 2010 8:32 AM
It is my understanding that the premise our Constitution was based on, when our Founding Fathers risked their lives for this country, was that government should be “for the people, and by the people.”

After reading Ryan Higgins’ resume on his website, I had the feeling that the only things missing were a robe, staff, sandals and a body of water to walk on.
